This Garmin Dash Cam 47 is a wonderful all-round dashcam for any car and situation. It films with good FullHD quality and is equipped with Wifi and GPS. You have the option with this Garmin to store images in the Cloud so you can connect to your camera from anywhere in the world. Additionally, it supports Micro SD cards up to 512gb allowing you to store up to 80 hours of video.
The camera has a convenient and compact 2.0-inch LCD screen that allows easy menu control and viewing of saved videos. On the dashboard camera is a screen saver that turns off the screen after a few minutes of driving so it does not stand out too much. The camera continues to film after this, of course.
Garmin makes it possible to connect up to four dashcams to your smartphone. This way you can record in front, behind and to the sides of your car. Note that you will need a separate power supply and SD card for all dashcams.
The Garmin 47 is equipped with GPS receiver. This tracks location and speed with each video. The speed is shown at the bottom of the image and with the Garmin App, you can easily see what route you traveled.
Garmin gives you the option to store 24 hours of video for free in the Cloud so you can watch it from anywhere in the world, even when you're not around. There are also paid subscriptions of €5.99 and €10.99 for 7 days and 30 days of storage, respectively. Note that in order to store the images, there must be an active Wifi connection (hotspot) in the car to which you can connect the dashcam. This can be created with a Wifi hotspot adapter (see accessories) into which a SIM card with data subscription can be inserted.
The Garmin 47 always keeps an eye on the road and warns you, the driver, of dangerous situations:
- FCWS: Forward Collision Warning System that warns when approaching a vehicle in front at high speed.
- LDWS: Lane Departure Warning System that warns when a lane change occurs unnoticed.
- FDWS: Forward Departure Warning System notifies if your predecessor has left at the stoplight or in a traffic jam while you are momentarily not paying attention.
The Garmin 47 automatically switches to parking mode when the car is parked for several minutes. In this special mode, the camera is on standby and begins a short recording as soon as motion or vibration is detected. It has a small built-in battery that lasts about 30 minutes. Please note that using the parking mode for longer duration requires the OBD or Continuous power supply to power the dashcam once the car ignition is off.
The Garmin 47 supports Micro SD cards up to 512gb. This is good for 80 hours of FullHD videos. When the SD card is full, Loop recording automatically overwrites the oldest footage for new footage so you always have the latest rides on the SD card.
This dashcam alerts you to red light and speed cameras. Note that a subscription is required to receive up-to-date information in your area.
With the optionally available CPL filter you take away annoying radiations or reflections from the dashboard. The filter is magnetic and therefore easy to insert and remove
