The Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 is a nice entry-level dashcam from Garmin with Wifi and the ability to connect to your dashcam anywhere in the world via Cloud. He super compact and therefore fits effortlessly in any car. Filming he does in FullHD 1080p with 30fps.
Garmin makes it possible to connect up to four dashcams to your smartphone. This way you can record in front, behind and to the sides of your car. Note that you will need a separate power supply and SD card for all dashcams.
Garmin gives you the option to store 24 hours of videos for free in the Cloud so you can watch them from anywhere in the world, that is, even when you're not around. There are also paid subscriptions of €5.99 and €10.99 for 7 days and 30 days of storage, respectively. Note that in order to store the images, there must be an active Wifi connection (hotspot) in the car to which you can connect the dashcam. This can be created with a Wifi hotspot adapter (see accessories) into which a SIM card with data subscription can be inserted.
The Garmin Mini 2 automatically switches to parking mode when the car is parked for several minutes. In this special mode, the camera is on standby and begins a short recording as soon as movement or vibration is detected. Note that parking mode use requires OBD or Continuous power to power the dashcam once the car ignition is off.
The Garmin Mini 2 supports Micro SD cards up to 512gb. This is good for 80 hours of FullHD videos. When the SD card is full, Loop recording automatically overwrites the oldest footage for new footage so you always have the latest rides on the SD card.
With the optionally available CPL filter you take away annoying radiation or reflections from the dashboard. The filter is magnetic and therefore easy to insert and remove.
The Garmin dashcam comes with a handy Dual USB charger so you have an extra USB port to charge your phone, for example.
