Garmin hardwire kit to use your Garmin dashcam in parking mode. This handy continuous power supply is specially designed to connect the dashcam in a professional way and to use it in parking mode. By concealing the cables, the dashcam is ultimately less noticeable than when you use the cigarette or optional OBD power supply.
This Garmin power supply is a 3-wire 'hardwire kit' that is connected to three points, preferably at the fuse box of the car. The yellow (BATT) cable is connected to a fuse that supplies continuous current (even when the ignition is switched off), the red (ACC) to a switched fuse (which only supplies current when the ignition is switched on) and the black (GND) to the soil. In this way, the power supply sends a signal to the dashcam when the ignition is switched on and off so that the dashcam will automatically switch to park mode.
The power supply has a built-in protection that interrupts the current at a voltage of 11.6V/23.2V or lower. That way the car battery is not overcharged and the dashcam switches off when the voltage gets too low. It is suitable for 12V and 24V vehicles.
View on this page the detailed instructions on how to install this Continuous power supply. This continuous power supply already has a Mini/ATS fuse on both cables as standard. If your car uses this type of fuses and you still have two free spots (continuous and switched) you can simply place these fuses in there. If your car does not have Mini fuses or if you no longer have suitable free places, you will still have to use a fuse holder. You then cut the Mini fuses off the cable and place the stripped end in the casing of the fuse holder (see step 5 during installation).
