The SJCAM SJ5000X Elite is an upgrade from the popular SJ4000. This SJ5000X has an improved image sensor for even better and more detailed videos. In addition, this camera has active image stabilisation, making images less jerky and smoother. With its motion detection function, you can also use the SJ5000X as security when your car is parked.
The SJ5000X's lens is equipped with 3-axis image stabilisation, making images from this action cam exceptionally smooth. Shocks and vibrations are largely countered, making the camera perfect for off-road videos or on motorbikes.
In addition to the standard shooting modes, the SJ5000X also has a motion detection mode. With this feature enabled, the camera will standby and start recording only when a motion is detected in view. This makes the camera ideal for use as security when your car is parked.
Maybe the biggest advantage of an SJCAM as a dashcam is that it has a rechargeable and removable battery. So - unlike other dashcams - you don't need to connect the camera to power in the car in order to film with it.
The 900mAh battery is easy to charge via the mains using the included USB cable. Fully charged, you can record about 100 minutes with it. For more recording capacity, an extra battery and Dual charger are optionally available (see accessories).
The SJCAM SJ5000X Elite records videos in sharp 4K resolution at 24fps. The high-quality footage means that many details such as people and number plates are clearly visible. The resolution can also be set lower to save space on the SD card. Lower resolutions also allow recording at more fps (frames per second) for smoother recordings.

The SJCAM SJ5000X Elite has several recording options, including Car mode. In this mode, you use the SJ5000X Elite as a dashcam where it automatically switches on and off when you connect it with the optional car charger (see accessories). Loop recording needs to be switched on to automatically overwrite the oldest videos for new ones when the SD card is full. If you prefer to use SJCAM without connecting it in the car, you will have to start and stop recording manually.
The SJCAM SJ5000X Elite comes very complete with several self-adhesive holders. This makes it easy to attach the camera to the windscreen or dashboard in the car. Optionally, a suction cup holder is available for the windscreen to take the SJ5000X Elite out of the car complete with holder.
The SJCAM SJ5000X Elite is equipped with Wifi so you can easily control it with your smartphone. Via the SJCAM App for iPhone and Android allows you to change settings and view and download videos. To connect to the SJCAM, you need to be within range of the camera and Wifi must be activated with the Wifi button. Using the Wifi settings on your phone, you can then connect to the SJCAM's Wifi network.
On the bright 2.0-inch LCD screen, you can easily operate the SJ5000X Elite and view recordings.
The SJCAM SJ5000X Elite supports Micro SD cards up to 128gb (not included). This is good for around 8 to 12 hours of 4K videos. With Loop recording enabled, the oldest footage is automatically overwritten for new ones when the SD card is full. This keeps the camera recording continuously and the last 8-12 hours of videos are always saved (with 128gb card).
The SJCAM SJ5000X Elite has a large viewing angle of 170 degrees, allowing a large area around the camera to be recorded. This is particularly useful for Car mode so that any situation you see as a driver is actually captured.
With the SJ5000X Elite, you can choose from multiple video effects to capture events in different ways. To capture longer events like a car ride, sunset or construction process, you can use Time lapse which takes a picture every second and plays it back later as accelerated video. Instead, for fast-paced events, use Slow motion mode to make details more visible.
With the included waterproof casing, it is possible to use the SJ5000X Elite up to 30 metres deep. So feel free to take the camera with you while diving or snorkelling.
